It offers a wealth of resources, including specialized Local Veterans Employment Representatives (LVER) and Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP) staff who work solely with the veteran population and can provide veteran applicant referral. Veterans can work with a veteran’s employment specialist at the one stop centers to find jobs, acquire skills and education, plan a career, attend workshops, and take advantage of many other resources. To search for jobs online, click here Specialized Veterans Programs & ReferralsTransition Assistance ProgramThe Transition Assistance Program (TAP) was established to offer job search assistance and related services to separating service members during their period of transition into civilian life. The TAP is a partnership between the Departments of Labor, Defense, Homeland Security, and Veterans Affairs to provide employment and training information to armed forces members and their eligible spouses within one year of their separation or two years of their retirement from the military. VA Vocational Rehabilitation & Employment ProgramVocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E) is the VA program that assists veterans with service connected disabilities to obtain employment or enhance their ability to function independently at home and in the community. Vocational and educational guidance is available to assist service-members, veterans, and certain dependents of veterans in their career goals. Individuals can gain valuable on-the-job training and receive the necessary schooling to master a trade while earning a wage. TAP Employment Workshops Returning to civilian life is an exciting time, but is also a complex undertaking. The service member has many steps to take, and many questions to get answered. The Transition Assistance Program can help. Employment workshops are held on a monthly basis at the Airman Family and Support Center at Tyndall Air Force Base. During this 3 day workshop, you will learn how to write a resume and cover letter, obtain information on skills assessment and job search techniques, and learn other important information about career and job services available. Education Scholarship Search Local Schools/Colleges: Veterans’ Representative (850) 747-3210 Gulf Coast Community College offers degree university transfer and vocational and continuing education programs to more than 23,000 students. These students can choose from 76 Associate of Arts Degrees, 24 Associate of Science Degrees, and three Associate in Applied Science Degrees. Other offerings include several certificate programs and credit and non-credit continuing workforce education programs through the Office of Lifelong Learning. Florida State University, Panama City Campus Veterans’ Representative (850) 522-2044 The Panama City Campus of Florida State University offers 13 undergraduate degree programs and 21 master’s degree programs in the fields of Business, Education, Engineering, Nursing, and Psychology. Veterans’ Representative (850) 283-4449 Tyndall Air Force Base houses the Troy State University, Florida Region and currently provides undergraduate degree programs in Management and Resources Management. Additional graduate degree programs are offered in Counseling and Psychology, Human Resources Management, and Management. The university is available to all area residents interested in these fields. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Veterans’ Representative (850) 283-4557 The Resident Center of ERAU, also at Tyndall Air Force Base offers programs for an Associate of Science and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Professional Aeronautics, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management of Technical Operations, and a Masters of Aeronautical Science Degree with specialization in Aeronautics or Management. Veterans’ Representative (850) 747-5510 The Tom P. Haney Technical Center offers approximately 32 full-time and part-time day and evening programs. Program offerings are divided into several basic categories including: Business Education, Health, Family Sciences, Industrial and Adult Basic Education.
